Announcing that someone engaged in inappropriate behavior is not cancel culture. I haven't seen one person ask for Ellis to be pulled from Castlevania. You are not owed a lie or myth to keep you comfortable.
When grown men cry like children about cancel culture--when no one has even called for the termination of anyone's position--what they are doing is throwing a tantrum at the presence of truth.
To be admired and heralded as a good person even when you engage in harmful acts is a luxury and a privilege that is undeserved. And one that most of us do not get to enjoy because of bigotry and prejudice. We are not even heralded as good people when we ARE good people.
We are tired. Bone tired of dealing with the duality of abuse and discrimination AND having to pretend that we are not abused or discriminated against because someone cruel and/or incompetent wants to believe the lie that he earned his accolades or sterling reputation.
It's a new day. You may still have the privilege and opportunity, but you do not get the lies and coddling that once came with it. You're going to have to look in the mirror and know exactly who you are and how you got what you enjoy.
