Been going through a bunch of demos from the #SteamSummerFestival (plus some strays which were already on there)! I've already mentioned one or two but I'll do a proper thread here in case it's of interest
Exo One by @JayWeston: A 3D space storm version of Tiny Wings - build and spend momentum as you speed across an alien landscape! Really good sense of speed!
https://store.steampowered.com/app/773370/Exo_One/
Moncage ( @MoncageTheGame): A spatial puzzler about lining objects up across different scenes in order to trigger interactions. If you liked the interactions of Gorogoa, you should take a look (and vice versa!) https://store.steampowered.com/app/1195290/Moncage/
Rain On Your Parade by @UnboundCreation: You are a mischievous raincloud with a to-do list of mayhem. If you like the agent-of-chaos vibe of Goose Game (or if you like raining on folk and triggering fun interactions, take a look): https://store.steampowered.com/app/1213230/Rain_on_Your_Parade/
Growbot ( @growbotgame): A beautifully illustrated point and click about strange bio-bots and a worrying crystal intrusion! (I mentioned this the other day but not as part of this thread!) https://store.steampowered.com/app/661680/Growbot/
Raji: An Ancient Epic ( @rajithegame): Action adventure set in ancient India. I'm bad at any fighting requiring combo execution so can't give a verdict on that front BUT the cut scenes are so good! Styled to look like articulated puppetry <3 https://store.steampowered.com/app/730390/Raji_An_Ancient_Epic/
Hundred Days - Winemaking Simulator by @brokenarmsgames: Similar idea to Terroir, but I found it more approachable. I especially like how you have to lay daily task tiles out on a board. It means there's a spatial puzzle that lets you maximise wine work! https://store.steampowered.com/app/1042380/Hundred_Days__Winemaking_Simulator/
Papetura ( @PapeturaGame): A handcrafted point and click in the Amanita Design mould. It's a very short slice, but little animations brought out a lot of character, and the textures are so pleasing! https://store.steampowered.com/app/593640/Papetura/
Patrick's Parabox by @clockworkpat: Recursive block puzzles where sometimes you have to enter the box to be outside the box, and some other times you are INSIDE and OUTSIDE the boxes at the same time! https://store.steampowered.com/app/1260520/Patricks_Parabox/
PHOGS! ( @PlayPHOGS): A physics-y 3D puzzle platformer. I was playing this on my own so each hand was controlling one end of a delightful double-ended sausage dog! V cheery, and the co-ordination required reminded me of Kuri Kuri Mix! https://store.steampowered.com/app/850320/PHOGS/
Sail Forth ( @sailforthgame): A dinky procedural pirate adventure! This is one I've gone back to several times to try and make my way across a branching world map, sinking foes, stealing treasure, and joining boat races! https://store.steampowered.com/app/1031460/Sail_Forth/
Ynglet by @Nifflas: 2D platformer but instead of platforms you're smooshing your kite/bacterium body into gelatinous cubes and soaring into strange sub-molecular railways?? There's also an electroplankton vibe! https://store.steampowered.com/app/1015920/Ynglet/
Sarawak by @cowleyfornian: This demo has the opening two chapters of a literary mystery set in Oxford and Borneo. The presentation is really neat, flowing from prose into point and click puzzles! Feels really special :) https://store.steampowered.com/app/1249430/Sarawak/
The Wild At Heart by @moonlightkids_: A crafting adventure with echoes of Pikmin. This one has you venture into the mysterious woods, armed with only a vacuum backpack and a growing gang of helpful sprites! https://store.steampowered.com/app/1093290/The_Wild_at_Heart/
Lord Winklebottom Investigates by @cavemonsters: A funny anthropomorphic detective point and click adventure - involves a little puffin in a raincoat and a joke towards the end of the demo that caught me off guard and got a genuine laugh. https://store.steampowered.com/app/1024160/Lord_Winklebottom_Investigates/
Kine by @direGoldfish: Navigate 3D block puzzles as instruments! Your movement options change according to how you "play" the instrument! e.g. the accordion can extend to push you across gaps or into the air! https://store.steampowered.com/app/824570/Kine/
Genesis Noir ( @GenesisNoirGame): Cosmic noir love triangle that's somewhere between experimental music animation projects and interactive comic books: https://store.steampowered.com/app/735290/Genesis_Noir/
(I will note that GN did crash for me on my first attempt - severely enough that it required a full reboot. The second attempt was incident free)
Tales from Off-Peak City Vol.1 by @cosmoddd: Cosmo D projects are so good and so special - they're entire games made from brilliantly strange Easter eggs! This one's already out so, if you like the demo, you can then plunge into the full game, no waiting! https://store.steampowered.com/app/1129920/Tales_From_OffPeak_City_Vol_1/
Wayward Strand ( @WaywardStrand): Chat to the staff and residents aboard an airship hospital, uncovering a story for your school paper. I love the visual style and the gentle storytelling here! https://store.steampowered.com/app/1080450/Wayward_Strand/
Wide Ocean Big Jacket by @_turnfollow: A camping story! The demo has you play as one half of a team of rangers. Ostensibly you're collecting trash, but there are so many little emotional zings and stings as you talk! https://store.steampowered.com/app/1198040/Wide_Ocean_Big_Jacket/
Yooka Laylee and the Impossible Lair by @PlaytonicGames: I didn't see this come out last year but it has a free demo! It works well as a sidescrolling platformer :) https://store.steampowered.com/app/846870/YookaLaylee_and_the_Impossible_Lair/
Among Ripples: Shallow Water ( @AmongRipples): An ecology sim where you set up balanced lake ecosystems or repair those which are damaged https://store.steampowered.com/app/1096090/Among_Ripples_Shallow_Waters/
