hip hop twitter loves talking about the same few artists but i never see anyone giving spaceghostpurrp the respect he deserves. here’s a thread on why he’s one of the greatest to ever do it.

spaceghostpurrp is the founder of raider klan, and he is the reason that a ton of mainstream artists are as successful as they are. purrp revived and reinvented the memphis trap sound that three six mafia pioneered, creating his own spin on it: the dark phonk sound.

the entire “trill” sound was invented by spaceghostpurrp, and his style is what made asap mob’s career. most noticeably, he put the mob onto wearing grills, wearing all black, and the trill sound that rocky used on live love asap.

purrp pioneered so many different things, mortal kombat sampling, raider klan heiroglyphics, the lo fi trap sound. he helped many different artists out in the early 2010s, such as lil ugly mane, asap rocky, denzel curry, and so many more.

he has an amazing and extensive discography, but his best work to date is Blvcklvnd Rvdix 6.66, one of the best mixtapes of all time. he also has numerous other great projects, some of them being Mysterious Phonk, Nasa: The Mixtape, and B.M.W.

nearly every popular rapper out today owes some of their style or sound to spaceghostpurrp, it sucks that some of the dumb shit he did and his various beefs essentially got him blacklisted from the music industry.

but regardless of all the dumb things he’s said, Spaceghostpurrp deserves way more recognition & respect. his influence extends to every corner of the hip hop industry, he’s an extremely unique and talented producer, and his sampling is unmatched by nearly any other artist.

when its all said and done, i hope spaceghostpurrp gets the credit he deserves for being such a legend. without a doubt, he is one of the greatest artists of all time.
