In my early days as a children's librarian (early 2000s) I saw an increase of children's books written in verse. This one "Carver: A life in poems" by Marilyn Nelson is one of the first ones I read.
I really advise looking up George Washington Carver (died 1943), a fascinating man. Born into slavery, separated from his mother, raised and educated by the white Carver family, he studied Chemistry and later became a professor at Tuskegee University
He was an agricultural chemist who developed methods of increasing crop yield, preservation of crops and lots of other things. There is an urban myth that he invented peanut butter. He didn't, but did a lot of work with peanuts as a sustainable crop
I wish there were a biopic about him. I believe he also worked with Henry Ford on developing biofuels, but I can't verify that and it apparently didn't come to anything anyway. He is famous in his native USA but barely known here.
