So, did the state of Nevada report 410 new cases today? Yes. Is that the largest single-day increase, technically? Yes. And I've been tweeting a lot about how cases have been increasing, but, if I may, a bit of context:
The state of Nevada reports numbers once a day. Its total yesterday morning was 12,076. We use a county-by-county method, to have the most up-to-date totals possible. Our count by the end of the day yesterday was 12,169.
That total of 12,169 represented a 315 case increase over the prior day's total, a big but not the biggest single-day increase. AND it's worth noting that included 83 new Washoe cases, which we know popped up all at once because of a reporting delay. https://twitter.com/Covid19Washoe/status/1273776051500400640
So far today, our county-by-county total has Nevada at a total of 12,488 cases, an increase of 319 from the prior day. (317 cases in Clark, and one new case each in Lander and Nye.)
The total reported by the state of Nevada stands at 12,486, 410 more than the 12,076 reported yesterday. BUT, again, remember the state reports in the a.m. and therefore yesterday's total didn't include the 83 cases Washoe posted yesterday p.m. That's included in that 410 today.
So, yes it's a big number, but remember that that 410 case increase includes the 83 cases from Washoe yesterday, which was the result of a reporting delay caused by a lab equipment issue.
