hi i'm gonna talk about why astrid is one my fav character and why they did her so dirty
so first i know astrid was a real bitch sometimes but also did you see how toxic the environment she grew in was? her dad only "liked" her because she was pretty! she said it herself, she clearly felt like she more a prop than a human being
also like she said River was so important to her bc he loved her, he showed her affection and the fact that SHE MATTERED!!!!! which she never really felt like bc her family/friend never took the time to show her that! they all thought that money could have brought that happiness
when actually all that she really wanted was to feel appreciated and know she really mattered, i understand why she became so defensive about River and Payton in s1, imagine having your boyfriend, the only person that ever saw you for who you really are
who genuinely cared about you, showed you that you’re were unique, does the exact same thing for someone else and cheat on you??? and people were saying that astrid was wrong?
and all the nyc episode, she really just wanted to be free, to not have to care about reputation and just to feel like she could start over, start her own life
also the whole affair thing was really messed up?? like idk + payton was showing astrid more attention and then when she told him she was pregnant he just pushed her back and didn’t even care at the end when she disappeared
imagine how that would have fucking felt!! again, pushed back, not being the priority, always being the second choice. i feel so sad for her god i think the only person that treated her right aside of river is alice (which i’m still salty bc she got back to payton)
i think they could’ve developed her character so much more! she had so much potential and they just abandoned her in the last episode and i’m super sad and angry about that
