This is the usual "centrist" bullshit to absolve themselves of blame. It's what they always do after a heavy defeat.

When Labour scraped 30% in 2015, they claimed it was because Ed Miliband was too left-wing. This was when Labour were pro-austerity and anti-immigrant, FFS.

When Jeremy Corbyn was elected leader in 2015, "centrists" said he would destroy Labour as an electoral force. They refused to work with him. They slagged him off in the media. They voted no confidence in him. They tried to "break him as man".

Then, the 2017 GE happened.

This was the chance "centrists" had been waiting for. Thanks to their 2-year campaign to deliberately sabotage Corbyn, Labour were 20pts behind the Tories. All "centrists" had to do now was wait for the inevitable thumping defeat. Everyone expected a massive Tory majority.

However, over the space of a few weeks, Labour gradually gained on the Tories. Someone at Labour HQ deliberately leaked the manifesto to damage Corbyn. It backfired. The manifesto proved extremely popular. Corbyn-mania was sweeping the nation. May-bot was malfunctioning.

At 10:00 on election night, the exit poll was announced. Despite everything "centrists" had done to sabotage Corbyn for 2 years, Labour had actually gained 3.5m votes. Corbyn had wiped out May's majority. Predictably, "centrists" were devastated. Their plan had failed.

For the next year or so, Labour were regularly ahead of the Tories in the polls. This was despite a manufactured "antisemitism crisis" that "centrists" were only too happy to perpetuate.

Then, the #PeoplesVote campaign handed the Tories and "centrists" a lifeline.

For over a year, anti-Brexit extremists demanded Corbyn oppose Brexit. When he pointed out that 4m Labour voters had voted Leave, they didn't care. If Corbyn didn't oppose Brexit, they'd vote for Jo Swinson. Corbyn was effectively blackmailed into supporting a #PeoplesVote.

7/10
With Brexiteer Boris Johnson as Tory leader and Corbyn forced to back a #PeoplesVote, the 2019 GE was effectively a re-run of the referendum. Predictably, Labour lost 52 Leave-voting seats to the Tories. Even more predictably, "centrists" immediately blamed Corbyn.

After getting the result they'd originally hoped for in 2017, "centrists" were now cockahoop. They'd finally managed to get rid of Corbyn by forcing him to alienate 4m Labour Leave voters. Now to elect Keir Starmer as leader and purge "Corbynistas". Hence today's report.

9/10
Trouble is, Corbyn has changed the political landscape. Even the Tories are anti-austerity now. Corbyn has reminded us what the Labour Party should be. If "centrists" think purging "Corbynistas" is the answer, they're in for a shock. They need us more than we need them.
