1/4 Committee to Protect Journalists feels that the new media policy could be an Orwellian tool to control Kashmir's (IOJK) press.

2/4 Said media policy which is developed & implemented by Indian bureaucracy in IOJK "not only lays down the contours of what journalism is but also the prosecution of journalists under the Indian Penal Code & cyber laws for what the administration would deem as fake news”.
3/4 According to The Kashmir Walla this new media policy also has plans to flood social media with "achievements" of the Indian administration in IOJK & coerce media entities to report on them.

Basically, it empowers the bureaucracy to censor information in IOJK as they please.
4/4 ".. in the absence of an elected government and almost all unionist politicians in jail, the bureaucrats have wholly taken over the affairs of the region, no longer answerable to regional politicians", reports The Kashmir Walla.
