Nobody is ready for the conversation about how when you REALLY ACCOUNT FOR NONBINARY GENDERS INSTEAD OF JUST SHOEHORNING US WHEREVER, concepts like “straight” and “gay/lesbian” get really fucking complicated
Am I gay or straight for loving my boyfriend? The easy answer is, of course, bi/pan/mspec, because I like more than one gender, but that’s just me. What about nbi folx who *are* only attracted to one gender?
Anyway, this is where a lot of the “weird/oxymoron” labels and identities come from. Trying to make room for ourselves with language that is EXTREMELY binary
So many of these labels that exclusionists rail against so vehemently make perfect fucking sense when you consider the existence of nby ppl. Of genderfluid ppl. Of bigender ppl. They just choose to ignore us unless it’s convenient for them.
Every nonbinary person’s relationship with and understanding of their gender is going to be different. So: let us do what we want. And don’t tell us where we’re included (or aren’t, for that matter). Because if we felt included there, this convo wouldn’t be fucking happening.
