Alberta recently implemented a law targeting protesters.

Obviously, this was initially meant to disproportionately harm Indigenous people re: pipeline protests.

And the timing (i.e., amidst worldwide Black Lives Matter protests) of this moving forward was intentional.

This should worry everyone.

Not only is it antagonizing (as many of the details were already illegal), it’s also written dangerously vague.

Blockades involving “critical infrastructure”?

It’s been noted this could even mean a group of people casually blocking a sidewalk.
How can anyone think this is remotely okay?

I’ve witnessed exclusive praise for this Bill in my local community.

I’m reluctant to even post this, as I don’t know if I should be afraid.

But more than that, I worry for all Black and Brown people in Alberta.
