The white guy i was ahem “asked” to “co-create” my late night pilot with (The pitch was completed before we ever met and didn’t change thru the 2 meetings it took to sell it im not bragging just making it clear that he was not A BRILLIANT CREATIVE FROM GODS)...
Directed and wrote a movie starring delia and some other very Whatever ppl. At the time I was 22/23 and decided to just Ignore it altogether so I didn’t have to hate this guy I’m about to work closely with. I tell him I had a bad interaction with chris RE: isla vista shooting...
And the guy’s like “i get it!” This guy brings Chris up maybe oh 6-7 more times in the writer’s room, before I have to say “I will literally walk into traffic at night before I put Chris Delia on my show.” He still suggested it to the producers AND TO CHRIS AFTER THAT CONVO...
So by the time we’re shooting the pilot, it’s clear that my “co-creator” is an Actually Bad Person but whatever we get through it. After we’re done shooting, I find out from our director’s partner (who worked on this guys movie) that his set was insanely casually rude/sexist...
ALL THIS TO SAY: You know who asked me to meet this guy in the first place? And then encouraged me not to fire him early on? And then listened to me privately break down sobbing and CRIED WITH ME before gaslighting me on call with execs? My MANAGER who I’ve known since EIGHTEEN
LIKE BRO....you say you know this guy? You’re REPRESENTING HIM and HIS WORK...and you never visited his set? Never picked up a vibe? Why were you using me as life rafts for your struggling middle aged male clients anyways? Was that never maybe Not something to do?
They do this ALL THE TIME (which is y i was a bit embarrassed when i got bamboozed meself) where they take new cool different voices, and use them to give old white men who have “paid their dues” a shot at finally showrunning. It’s a fucking joke. O no shit u had to “redevelop”🤣
