Minimum 10yr residence, work, and living history; minimum 10 references, and those references are asked to provide 3 more; neighbors are interviewed; credit is pulled, you won’t get hired if you can’t handle finances well; polygraph tests; multiple levels of interviews..
Scenario training; home visits; school records; application comparisons and reviews, if there are even minute discrepancies that could indicate a lack of integrity, you’re washed; 3+ months of field training with multiple officers who are typically models to imitate..
Driving records; criminal background check; ex-coworker interviews...
What more do people want to prove a person’s integrity for law enforcement? People think departments hand out badges like you’re applying for McDonald’s, and have no idea what they are talking about.

This nonsense is gonna cause early retirements, good officers to hand in their badges early, and worse candidates will come forward to try and do the job. I can’t wait to be done in nine years and start another career..
I got into law enforcement because of family history and wanting to clean up communities. Guess what? 99.99% of officers are the exact same; we don’t do this for the pay...
I pray I’m not put in a position to get fired for doing my job. People have no clue what it’s like to do this job. None. We have a bunch of armchair quarterbacks judging actions of officers..
The vast majority of officers go their entire career without firing their weapon. When you have 1/10,000 officers who are a problem, you don’t need “reform” for the 9,999. You handle the one, which always happens.
I’m done. Sorry, I’m just so tired of the media feeding bull and normally smart people eating it up without actually thinking about things logically.
We live in a society where police officers are viewed as criminals, and criminals are viewed as heroes. I can’t stand it.
