Looking more into the driving ability of Myers because I wanted to dive deeper.

So as expected he is a 3rd defenseman when we consider his offensive driving of the play. He generates shots at a 2nd pair rate and while his offensive production wasn’t there we can look at it as unlucky or just not having the finishing talent in front of him.
However, even when we go to his defense, we are seeing a guy that ranks around the 200 range when we consider all his stats. Out of 223 players. Would qualify him as a middle tier 6th defenseman.
When I average everything out does his offense outweigh his defense?

I personally feel that this is the absolute peak Myers we will get in Vancouver and how can we expect him to get better? It’s not going to happen. As of now he’s a middle tier 5th D man and that’s mostly due to the fact he’s very good at driving play offensively.
Scary to think that when the Canucks enter a contention window in roughly 2-3 years you will have Myers/Pettersson/Hughes making almost 30 million of your cap. Add in the fact that while you are contending a bottom pair Myers makes 6 million preventing you from signing a stud.
