Because that charity was largely associated w/whiteness. Whiteness is trusted. Blackness is not. Yes I know the ppl who run MFF are not Black but the embodiment of their work is and we didn’t know they weren’t black when this started. 2/

Lack of trust in Black people is insidious across the sector. Black organizations are held to a different and higher set of standards. I’ve seen start up white orgs get multi-million dollar investments w/zero track record. While we must do double & triple due diligence 3/

to get a fraction of the investment aka trust that white counterparts are given automatically. This impacts our ability to scale, innovate, and thrive. It impacts the health and happiness of the people who work in Black orgs. This is systemic racism. I’m sick of it. 4/
