there are a lot of spelmanites on my timeline being intentionally obtuse around why the non “ivy” HBCUs are tired of seeing the same 3 schools get chosen for funding.

spelmanites and morehouse students like y’all are the very reason our institutions allowed morris brown —which was a better member of the vine city community than spel house EVER was— to close

what has spelman EVER done to redistribute the pretty consistent stream of wealth it’s celebrity has afforded it?

i’m genuinely asking. i’m not saying it doesn’t happen but if it does it should be more boldly publicized.

HBCUs are problematic and i have deep critiques of them (especially spelman and howard) but for right now they’re what our community has.

there are so many barriers to entry to getting to spelman. when people can’t go there other HBCUs welcome them —affordably

the fact that y’all would even think it’s ok the shame other schools for their frustration over this manufactured scarcity of funds instead of shaming the Harvards and Princeton’s only confirms to me that spelman is failing itself, each of you, our communities, and the ancestors.

i am so deeply disappointed in y’all.

all that being said — @harvard redistribute your rediculous endowment to land grant HBCUs NOW.
