Now that @albaberlin is back on the court, @pepesilvam and I are looking into any differences in players' physical performance before and after the COVID-19 lockdown. Here are some things we are seeing. ⬇️
We are monitoring statistics such as real time on the court, average speed, or metrics such as mechanical intensity or physio intensity that try to summarize how physically demanding a game was.
Here’s the team average number of different events per minute in each @easyCreditBBL game we have tracked. Although it is a small sample, there appears to be a slight increase in the number of all the events.
In the four games after the break, players have, on average, stayed on the court a longer time than in the previous games. They also covered more distance per minute at high speeds (🏃> 17 km/h). Still a small sample but something to keep an eye on.
The data suggests the physical demands are slightly up but, overall, the players seem to have stayed in shape during the lockdown. 💪
Forgot to mention that all the data we used is from @kinexon's player tracking system. 👌
