I refused press abt what I saw during the protests. I wanted black voices & organizers to amplified. But I did come in today to testify to AG @TishJames b/c I believe New Yorkers need to start building the case towards abolishing the NYPD.

I saw @zayer_dounya suffer a severe seizure from a forceful and intentional shove from a NYPD officer.

I held a 14 year old sobbing in my arms. I don't think I'll ever forget her screaming when she thought an officer was going to grab her.

In one night, I treated over 15 maced & injured protesters. Many under the age of 18.

I ran. Like I ran ran from the cops a lot. Grabbing people who had fallen. Hiding people when I could.

And when I was a little too banged up to run, I sat at jail support, holding hands.

NYPD is the world's most incompetent militia even with all their funding & used ICE officers for security. But they punished protestors for daring to rise up. I urged @TishJames to use the words defund and abolish in her recommendations. I believe justice is tied in those words.

Also @abolishthenypd. Check it out. The demands come from @prisonculture's call for not just defunding NYPD by $1B but starting with reducing it by 1/2. Say it with me. Defunding is part of abolition work and we're here to do work.
