well this is inaccurate on like four different levels https://twitter.com/SportsbyBrooks/status/1273269086034767872
1. There's very little evidence he was targeted because he was black...or that he wasn't, because "football game in 1923"

2. There's even less evidence it was murder?

3. Took about ten years to get the field named after him. Not speedy, but led by students at Iowa State, too.
4. The one that's really pernicious there? That Iowa State did nothing to save him. That's known: That Trice said he was fine, tried to play through, and then couldn't stand and was taken to a local hospital in MN for two days.
That part rankles me. Iowa State took Trice's death seriously enough in 1923 to cancel classes and then discontinue the Minnesota series for sixty-six years afterwards. His teammates paid for his funeral expenses. It wasn't a small thing.
I’m being pedantic but hopefully for the right reasons here, it’s one of the most moving stories in the sport and getting it wrong serves no one you want to serve
correction! They played the next year, and then didn't play again until 1989 https://twitter.com/kagavi/status/1273292102231715840
