Some of y’all need to stop using the phrase “cancel” like it’s synonymous with “critique.” There’s a difference b/w wanting to end a career and wanting to hold someone accountable. Very few celebs have actually been cancelled out completely by the industry, audiences, & friends.
It often boils down to the fact that you’re not used to certain minority groups speaking up when something offends us. You’re used to us submitting to the way things are. It’s not a coinsedence that the idea of “cancel culture” got popular at the same time as the #metoo
movement.

Because in this instance, when Cole critiqued Noname or whichever mythical black woman he was speaking to in that song, you understood THAT. But when black women critiqued him back you yelled cancel.
