So I was thinking about Nice’s and Heitor’s appearances during the game and especially during 397 and noticed that it served 2 main purposes:
First of all, the characters appearing/commenting the game are a way for Furudate to make their point obvious, here’s a good example with Kindaichi and Kunimi but you can also see this with Hinata’s growth during 384-386 making his former Karasuno teammates react a lot https://twitter.com/ousamayama/status/1271673757309054976
So what about Nice and Heitor ? Well they are here because they were witnesses of Hinata’s growth in Brasil, therefore when there are references to the skills Hinata acquired in Rio, they will appear to strengthen the point:
Notice how in this one everyone is blown away (great use of the dynamic lines and hair being pulled back), even his former team, but the brasilians are not even surprised because they know what he’s capable of, therefore making a contrast between HS hinata and pro hinata
The second purpose they serve is to show how high level this game is: obviously being brasilian, they know of their national star Romero and think that he’s levels over everyone in the game, which he is.
But then when they see Atsumu’s play they are shocked, even though Heitor is a player that is used to the pro level, which shows how strong the japanese players -and especially the mongen- are.
And in the same idea of showing how impressive the V-league is to foreigners from one of the best v*lleyball nation in the world, their other appearances mainly focus on two players: Kageyama and Ushijima.
Those are the two rising stars of Japan, and players of the 3-time reigning champion. Seeing them react to EVERY set Ushijima gets in 397 is telling of what the world should expect from the mongen
So Furudate makes it clear that the Monster Generation is a force to be reckoned with and it is a good callback to this line, showing how Japan is entering a new era where they could very well become a powerful nation of v*lleyball
Just a quick point I forgot: I mentionned this spread from 380 to contrast HS Hinata and pro Hinata, but the opposite happens in 381 when Hinata uses the freak quick, a technique from high school, where the ones reacting are those who only know of the present Hinata:
