The Liberal government has now spent $51B out of the planned $187B under its infrastructure program, according to new report by @PBO_DPB. That's roughly $2B below its latest projections in 2019 budget
The PBO had to infer costs on roughly 20,000 projects, for which detailed information was not provided by government. Total projects under the program is now at 53,000
I'm told that 8,500 of those projects are womens' shelters that fall under the purview of Canada Mortgage and Housing Corporation (CMHC). They don't provide detailed information on those shelters for safety reasons, the agency tells me.
The other 12,000 projects fall under the Gas Tax Fund, which is a transfer program that predates the Liberal spending plans. The GTF doesn't appear to have any centralized database for what specific projects the money is spent on.
