I live in a black community. Not just Detroit, but specifically Grandmont, a neighborhood in DET.

The safety, affordability, and quality of living is important for our community. Why? Because Black Lives Matter.

Here’s an example how exploitation happens at their expense. /1
A 23 year old kid from Port Huron bought this home for $38,000 in 2018. /2
This wasn’t the only property young Justin bought. /3
Young Justin didn’t do anything with this property, treated it more like a stock as he waited for the value in the area to increase so he could sell it off. /4
He neglected the property so bad that some squatters, and couple, lived there for months undetected by him.

They were eventually were booted as some neighbors informed the property owner and the cops were called.

I remember seeing all their stuff out out on the curb. /5
In anger, the squatters returned and broke out the windows and busted down the doors.

I personally contacted Young Justin and told him he should secure the premises b/c it was unsafe for children on the block. /6

Justin blew smoke up my ass, did nothing.
After hardly doing anything to the home, Young Justin our the home back on the market for nearly $70,000. /7
The house never sold. It still sits there, blighted. It’s an eye sore for the block. It brings down the quality of life. It collects trash. Even when someone mows it, they don’t pick up the trash. It’s just shredded on the lawn. /8
Young Justin collects more nuisance tickets than the tooth fairy collects teeth. 6/16 was Young Justin’s deadline from the city to begin the rehab (he told me he was doing back in Oct. of 2019.)

Today is 6/17. A day after the deadline. Rehab has not begun. /9
I approached Young Justin one day and pressed him on his inaction. He told me if I don’t like to see homes like his property I should move out of Detroit. He said it’s private property and he can do what he wants. /10
Young Justin says Young Justin is a good boy though. He volunteers at the soup kitchen, helps (white) seniors, and advises youth organizations. /11
Young Justin has bunches of photos shaking hands with politicians and judges. I bet Young Justin will build a fortune off Black despair and then go into politics or influence politicians. /12
Don’t be Young Justin. Value Black Lives. Value Black Communities. Don’t exploit Black people and their communities. /13
