Just for clarification:
I will take into account performance related to the fee the club invested on the player. This will take into account only transfers made from 2010 to 2020. My views are my own and no bias will be addressed on this. Trying to stay as objetive as I can.

No. 10
Memphis Depay to ManU (2015, £31M)
Depay was bought as a huge promise by ManU after scoring 22 goals (Eredivisie top scorer) for PSV. The Dutch showed glimpses of his potential but never adapted to the EPL after netting only 2 goals in 29 appearances in his first season

No. 9 Andy Carroll to Liverpool (2011, £35M)
Truly a panic buy from a sporting director that had no idea of what he was doing. Carroll was supposed to replace Fernando Torres but instead he ended up netting only six Premier League goals in 44 appearances...

Before West Ham took him off Liverpool's hands in 2013 for £20m less than the Reds had paid two years earlier. It's incredible (to say the least) that Andy Carroll is still the most expensive English striker ever transferred.

No. 8 Thomas Lemar to Atlético Madrid (2018, £51M)
Lemar got to impress with two good seasons at Ligue 1 with Monaco and even got to lift the world cup with France in 2018, but the winger managed only 3 goals in his debut season (31 apps) and he is goalless this season so far.

No. 7 Fernando Torres to Chelsea (2011, £50M)
This surely looked like incredible business by Chelsea at the time. They were signing one of the best 9's in football and a proven EPL goalscorer with Liverpool. Still, Torres never managed to score more than 8 goals in a season.

No. 6 Di María to Manchester United (2014, £59.7M)
Di María barely played 12 months in Old Trafford after ManU payed a huge fee for the Real Madrid former star. He had a somewhat good start and got the Red Devils excited for a while.

But he was rarely in the starting Xl and Louis Van Gaal used the winger mainly as a substitute. ManU decided to cut their loses after the player (and his wife specially lol) decided they wanted to abandon the ship. They took some heavy losses and sold the player to PSG in 2015.
No. 5 Alvaro Morata to Chelsea (2017, £60M)
5.2 Morata to Atlético Madrid (2020, £48.5M)
5.3 Morata to wherever he goes next
You saw this coming didn't you? There's not much to say about this one.

Somebody actually woke up one morning and decided it would be a great idea to sign Alvaro Morata for more than 20m pounds. In his first EPL campaign he managed to score merely 11 goals in 31 apps.

No. 4 Kepa Arrizabalaga to Chelsea (2018, £71.5M)
Another Chelsea flop, Kepa was supposed to replace leaving GK Courtois and Chelsea fans were eager to see him in blue after a good season with Bilbao. For that kind of sum you would expect some Neuer-esque talent.

However, Kepa has to this day the worst save percentage of any goalkeeper in the EPL despite Chelsea stopper being the most expensive player in his position of all time. Chelsea's net would be more secure with the golden retriever from "Air Bud" featuring as goal keeper.
No. 3 Gonzalo Higuaín to Juventus (2016, £75.6M)
In a time when Juve decided to make Higuaín the most expensive player in Italian football history and seemed to be paying one million euros per kilo (he has never been known for his fitness tbh)

The former prolific Napolitano managed to score a decent amount of goals in his first season (24 in 38 apps) but then went to score 16 the next year and he has currently 5 in 23 apps this season. The main reason he is at this spot in the list is because of his heavy price tag.
No. 2 Coutinho to Barcelona (2018, £142M)
When you become the third most expensive player on the history of the sport the expectations are quite high to say the least. Coutinho failed to find the rhythm on the pitch and never seemed to be comfortable playing at Barça

The former Liverpool star went on loan to Bayern last year and failed to impress once more. Barça are desperate to sell the player in order to raise funds for future signings and alleviate a bit their huge bank debts.

No. 1 Ousmane Dembele to Barcelona (2017, £145.5M)
Dembele was supposed to replace the talented Neymar after the latter moved to PSG in an astronomic deal. This panic buy founded on a good season at Dortmund failed miserably.

A deadly combination between injuries and bad company has derailed this young man's career and there seems to be no light at the end of the tunnel at the moment for the French international.
