And yet he's losing advertisers under intense political pressure, because in these totalitarian times, some corporations are more concerned with political correctness than making money or increasing value for their shareholders. https://twitter.com/JaniceDean/status/1273213828034187264
Hopefully we can hammer the last few nails in the old "fiscally conservative but socially liberal" illusion. We were hoodwinked into believing that social issues were toxic and should be kept hermetically sealed from fiscal policy discussions. What a load of utter nonsense.
Now we live in a time where you'll be fiscally punished by the hard Left if you don't bend the knee to the most radical (and, in truth, illiberal) forms of "social liberalism." The Left gleefully did what the Right was bullied out of: use fiscal power to impose social politics.
You can see this in all the deplatforming controversies, and in how the Left has used political and economic power to deform urban populations over the past two generations. Social control was the explicit goal all along; everything else was bent toward achieving it.
So now we live in a time where big corporations have been turned into instruments of left-wing social control. Beginning with Hollywood but spreading from there, and now crucially including the Internet titans, they were made to care more about lefty social policy than business.
In years past we shook our heads at Hollywood being more interested in leftist politics than making money. They made so much money they could absorb their failures, but their willingness to pour resources into left-wing agitprop that bombed at the box office was amusing.
But in truth, Hollywood was testing out the totalitarian politicized business model that has become common in other industries as well. Some of them openly announce they're not interested in serving customers who aren't politically correct. Politics come before profit.
The Left understood that dollars are votes, and they're more powerful than ballots. The way we spend our money has tremendous influence over the shape of society. So while the Right was muttering garbage about "toxic social issues" to itself, the Left went after the money.
So now you live in a totalitarian society where fiscal leftism and social leftism have been fused into a single almighty warhammer. Your wallet will be pounded until you submit. Big Business has become a transmission system for left-wing politics - just check your Spam folder.
There is no distance between left-wing fiscal and social policy at all. None. Each is routinely employed as coercive force to achieve the Left's ultimate goals. Fiscal policy forcibly shapes society. Social power forcibly extracts money from businesses and taxpayers.
And now, if you're not part of the left-wing hive mind, you're fighting for your very right to speak because the public square is owned by hyper-politicized corporations. "Fiscal conservatism and social liberalism?" What rot. That nonsense cost us a generation. /end
