I appreciate those who want to preserve their psychic integrity, and look — I get it. If you’re charismatic enough, you could maybe pull it off. But for people who don’t do this stuff naturally (people who have to read instructions on how to do it) it’s just irresponsible advice.
The great @olivertraldi called this sort of advice “political pick-up artistry.” That’s what it is. Remember that phrase.
