THREAD: Want to email your MP about an issue? Before you use a template email take a read of these tips first...
Please, please, please personalise your email. It shows MPs you truly care about the issue and adds some much needed heart to the action
If you just thought, "I don't need to personalise this email" then think about the wider movement your email lives in. The more template emails that go out, the less useful MP actions are. Take an extra couple of minutes and you'll help your campaign and countless others
Stick your postcode in the body of the email, mention how the issue affects the constituency, do research on your MPs local activity. MPs prioritise constituents so don't make it hard for them to check you live in the area
Don't let the email be the only action you take on your campaign. Follow up with your MP, ask them questions, contact local media. An email action is part of a wider campaign
Last but not least, this is all advice from someone who has spent years campaigning and is so guilty of sending out unstrategic email MP actions. So don't worry if you've not edited a template in the past, just think about doing this in the future
