[Thread] Today I drove to the clinic, for an appointment that was cancelled just before lockdown.
I went to the door and it wouldn’t open. A practitioner wearing a mask (who was talking to two young people) then said something to me
Me: Sorry, I can’t lipread. I’m #deaf

She then repeated what she said (still wearing the mask) and just pointed to the fire door.
Still confused, I walked to the door and it was locked. So I pressed the bell twice.
The lady came over and told me to sit on the bench (how was I supposed to know?!)

The door was answered by a lady wearing a mask, who was slightly irritated that I pressed the bell twice and walked off
She then said something to me...
Me: Sorry I can’t understand. I’m #deaf and I lipread.
The lady lowered her mask and told me that I had to wait.

5 minutes later, the door was opened by a lady, who had already lowered her mask for me to #lipread
I entered the building, sanitised my hands and put on a disposable mask. The lady gestured to the procedure room and spoke without her mask on (from a distance)

The doctor was fab and explained everything (from a distance) and made sure I understood and repeated when needed
I left the room and was met with the first lady, who lowered her mask, spoke and gestured to the end of the corridor where the sanitiser, bin and exit was.
