Nobody Argued that دین must always mean religion, it can mean system, power, religion etc
But in the Qur'an the word " دین الله" Always means religion of Allah.
Another example the word رسول means "Messenger" but everytime the word رسول الله is used it

Secondly, you are missing a detail, Allah told prophet to rejoice and praise Allah that many people are entering the religion of Allah, if they were merely hypocrites than it wouldn't make sense.

Weak comparison, Allah explicitly states elsewhere in the Qur'an that large party of jews and Christians are non believers and cursed, however Allah never said that those who accepted Islam after the conquest are hypocrites and only a small party believes
