i find it very interesting that in the whole 3 yrs i’ve publically transitioned online, i haven’t received a single offer for sponsored content from any brand dispite having a following of 360k+ so i removed all things trans related & in a couple of weeks ive confirmed 4 collabs?

this isn’t by chance. in the past, brands have been happy to send me tons of free products to promote to MY audience (wigs, clothing, makeup, skincare etc) but dispite my posts being creative & clearly promoting said products - i have never been reposted onto their social media

this means that brands are happy to use a trans influencers audience, but would not be happy to promote that trans influencer to their own audience. i don’t see trans influencers respected the same way as their cis counterparts dispite follower count, engagement rate & creativity

i’ve also had brands lose interest & suddenly retract their collaboration offer after finding out that i’m trans. social media is my main source of income during this pandemic & it’s disheartening to think that i have to ‘hide’ my gender indentity to make enough money to survive

brands that use pride as a way to commericalise and profit from our struggles but do not PAY LGBT+ creatives and influencers can honestly get fucked
