Thread on hunting, why its important and why you should do it.
Will start with why it’s important. Hunting used to be about providing food for your family, to stock up meat for the coming winter and what not. Now you have grocery stores filled with meat you can buy. You should hunt though because the meat you get from a wild animal
is going to be more nutrient rich due to its varried and natural diet. You don’t have to worry about the meat having anything added to it or the animal being roided up. Wild game meat is also leaner, it’s going to be lower in fat then store bought meat.
Finally it tastes better imo, I like that gamey taste you get from venison, much better quality of meat. You should hunt for this reason alone, but hunting gets you outside. Will often spend a whole weekend in the woods and even if I don’t get anything it’s still fullfilling
Hunting is mostly important for population control. Most of the natural predators for game animals have significantly reduced populations than they did many years ago. Hogs, turkey, and especially deer run a high risk of over population.
Hunting serves as population control. As an example deer will over populate an area and not move on but stay there. They will run out of food sources and then the whole group in that area will starve. This is the main reason for hunting, we are the main predators now.
Hunting is also important because it teaches you skills like tracking prints and blood trails. It also teaches you how to recognize common trails the animals use and how to look for signs of game. It can also teach you basic survival skills if you are out for multiple days
Overall hunting is something I believe men should learn. It’s good for getting your own food and learning how to be self sufficient
