Some excellent data on suitability for Low Traffic Neighbourhoods from TfL here @haringeycouncil and @CllrKirsten https://twitter.com/JackMaizels/status/1272911930433339392 Given that we've established from other borough actions that Low Traffic Neighbourhoods can be done cheaply 1/2
Look at this through traffic vs. car ownership and other data! I'd like to hear from @haringeycouncil and @CllrKirsten why wouldn't implement LTNs in the recommended 10 highest priority wards in Haringey urgently? There is no 'balance between all road users'.
Just to expand on my 'There is no "balance between all road users".', my point is that we've heard this comment from @CllrEjiofor but the data shows that Haringey residents, especially in the centre and east of Haringey, 1) majority don't have cars
2) majority suffer from through traffic 3) other data shows that 70%ish of through traffic journeys start and end outside Haringey. 4) it's worst in areas of low income 5) it's worse where there are lots of schools and small pavements.
So 'balance of all road users' is not the right way to approach this. You should bias towards modal shifts and a reduction in through traffic. It's time to prioritise your residents @haringeycouncil @CllrEjiofor @CllrKirsten
Imagine the rejuvenation of local business, local shops more directly accessible rather than having to drive to a supermarket? There's strong growing evidence (e.g. @WalthamForestCo's LTNs) that it's good for traders and local businesses, despite initial lobbying against it.
