There's no doubt there will be a big impact.

Highlighting this is really important as many in the sector are precariously employed and highly specialist, so finding new and rewarding jobs will be difficult. These people must be helped.
A sample of 2000 (freelancers & businesses) should come with a health warning for regional impacts. And "Only 31 responses were gathered from IT, software and computer services companies, including only 6 from the video games sector" (Sample sizes are small outside of London)
Projected regional impact on GVA

The North East: already small for CIs and distant from financial and discursive centres of CIs. Hopefully the cheap cost of living/office space and quality of life will protect the sector a bit. @CreativeFuseNE has new funding which is good.
Projected job losses... -43% in WM and 0% in Y&H? Not sure what is happening here and the small sample size could be skewing results.
It's impressive to get 2000 responses and model those into this report quickly. And it is important to bring these things to the attention of policymakers because we will see the sector shrinking. But...
The focus again is on GVA, (generic) jobs numbers, turnove againr. The same as we've seen for the last 20 years. Headline economic figures which hide the detail and nuance of employment and working practices. And overlook the non-economic value of the cultural-creative economy.
For the last two decades the policy discourse about the CIs has been all growth all the time, while exclusion & exploitation went unaddressed.

Now should be a time of change. A time to re-think and not maintain the status quo.
The cultural-creative industries are so much more than headline economic figures. Trying to recreate pre-COVID performance in the same ways as before will lead to more exclusion and exploitation. It's potentially going to get worse with fewer jobs and lower rates.
The CCIs are about ideas and imagination, let's harness that and bring in what many people and groups have been calling for for years.
