The department’s vision for Immigration Enforcement is to 'reduce the size of the illegal population and the harm it causes'. But it doesn’t have an up-to-date estimate of how many people are in the UK illegally, or a consistent definition of what the harm is. (2/3)
It collects a lot of data about the actions it carries out but often can’t show that they are having the desired impact. Some of its processes are inefficient, and performance against some of its key measures has fallen. (3/3)
