First up the entrance... 1/
a myth-history of origins, but please don't criticise this display was first put up in about 1960-ish. It is a museum-piece in its own right! 2/
A couple of general cases - Polynesian music and stoneworking. 3/

A favourite with a lot of visitors, Kiribati warrior wearing, coconut matting armour, a porcupine fish helmet, and shark skin stomach protector 5/
Melanesian weapons. Like a lot of historical collections, there's a bias towards weaponry. 6/

Now we've done the Melanesian loop we are back to Polynesia (makes sense when you actually visit)

Easter Island, including the only moai in New Zealand. (I've cheated here a bit, 'cos that's not in this picture but is situated near the entrance to the gallery see pic 1)

And last but not least Hawaii, and another teddy-bear.
The observant among you will notice that I haven't shown any Māori material. That's because we have another equally large gallery devoted to Tangata Whenua and the light levels are too low for my cam.
