saying "japanese doesnt have pronouns, so you cant say arashi is a girl" is fundamentally incorrect. (thread) #givearashiherpronounsback
first of all, japanese HAS pronouns but not in the same sense that english does. there isnt a direct way of saying "his/her", so unless you can hear someone's first person pronouns and the way they refer to themself as, gender is ambiguous in text, generally (exceptions: 彼女,彼)
first person pronouns, or ways of saying "i" or "me", are important in japanese. arashi uses the pronoun "atashi", which is a female-exclusive pronoun.
she isnt an okama stereotype. okama are often depicted as men who crossdress and act girly, often wearing dresses and heavy makeup. good examples are bob (fairy tail) and nico (tokyo ghoul) but this transphobic stereotype is very present in japanese media.
arashi, on multiple occasions, clearly states that she is a girl. in japanese, she CLEARLY says it. dont try and spin it on language ambiguity because she states it very clearly. all of the characters in enstars also respect her pronouns and identity.
she also speaks in a feminine speaking style, often adding "dawa" and "wa" at the end of her sentences. other transgirl characters, such as gary from ib, do this as well.
anyways im rambling but feel free to ask questions 😳im japanese and am born/raised/living in japan so ill do my best to answer
