Driver in gold sedan honked and shouted “not a bike zone, I called the city about this!” before forcing their way through. The success of Slow Streets shouldn’t be measured by angry, misinformed people that call the city but instead by the happy families using the street.
Moments later this older man rolled by and said “I love it, so much space!”.
In the 3 weeks that Slow Streets has been in place on Ellenwood Dr, it has done more to get people of all ages and backgrounds on bikes and being active than the bike lane on Eagle Rock Blvd one block over. Slow Streets has potential to be an amazing public health initiative.
