Martinelli vs Greenwood thread
Since both players rotate between the wings and the central striker role I will be using stats important in both positions like xG-G, g/sh, g/a p90, chances created p90 and dribbles p90. I will be using stats from just the PL.
Firstly I will explain these stats and their purposes
xG-G: determines the clinical ability of the player and how they take their chances. Negative numbers are better.
G/Sh: determines finishing ability of the player and how many shots they take per goal.
g/a p90: determines overall end productivity of the player.
Chances created: determines playmaking ability or creativity of player. Like a potential assist.
Dribbles p90: determines dribbling prowess and how well they can carry the ball.
First I will compare xG-G

Greenwood’s xG-G: -2.90
Martinelli’s xG-G: -0.76

Greenwood has scored 3 more goals than expected of him based on the pass, shot and goalkeepers he scored against while Martinelli has scored 1 more than expected. Greenwood is the more clinical player.
Next, I will compare g/sh

Greenwood’s g/sh: 0.23
Martinelli’s g/sh: 0.25

Martinelli takes about 4 shots every time he scores while Greenwood takes from 4-5. If both took 100 shots Greenwood would score 23 and Martinelli 25. Martinelli is the better finisher between the two.
g/a p90 comparison:

Greenwood’s g/a p90: 0.73
Martinelli’s g/a p90: 0.42

Greenwood gets a goal or assist every 3 of 4 games. Martinelli gets one around every 2 out of 5 games. Play them 100 games in the same team and Greenwood would get 73 g/a while Martinelli would get 42.
Chances created p90 comparison:

Greenwood: 1.09
Martinelli: 0.27

Every 90 minutes Greenwood makes about 1 pass that leads to a goal while it would take Martinelli around 360 mins to do the same. Greenwood is overall the more creative playmaker between the two.
Finally, dribbles p90 comparison:

Greenwood: 0.45
Martinelli: 0.64

Martinelli gets about 3 dribbles every 5 games while Greenwood gets one between every 2 out of 5 or 1 out of 2. Neither of them is a great dribbler but Martinelli edges it.
Greenwood leads in: xG-G, g/a p90, and chances created p90.

Martinelli leads in: g/sh and dribbles p90.
Conclusion: Greenwood is the more well-rounded player being more clinical, productive and creative while Martinelli is a better finisher and dribbler. Since Greenwood leads in more categories (3) and is second by not a lot in two I would assume he is the better player.
This doesn’t include the visual skill or roles the players have and is just paper/stat based. Websites used were http://understat.com  and http://WhoScored.com .
