Lots of people tried MidBoss because of the itch bundle and are saying they love it. Generally speaking MidBoss' reception has always been very positive and whenever it got shown anywhere in a marketplace it would lead to good sales

But it never made a lot of money
I am absolutely convinced that MidBoss didn't do well because of a lack of coverage around its release. The visibility a game gets before and especially at release is destiny for its commercial performance; there's no real budging it save for something like a later big rerelease
Back then I was a nobody with maybe 3k followers, so a lot of it was like "Kitsune who made Mid what?" and the game never got a second look from most influencers. People like @Aavak_ playing it saved it from being a total flop and probably saved my studio and my long term career
Later on others like @SplattrCatGames played it which definitely helped the long tail, but unless you catch that lightning in a bottle your first release is just super unlikely to do numbers

Press/influencers often won't even open your email unless they recognize the "from" name
We gave MidBoss a lot of post launch support and improvements and aside from lowering our return rate a little none of it ever really changed our sales numbers, which is pretty depressing
Not sure what my point is, I've just always felt bad that I spent years of my life on a game that was beloved by the few people who knew it existed, who called it a spiritual successor to Dungeons of Dredmor, but that never really had a chance cause I wasn't famous when I made it
Anyway if you wanna try a turn based roguelike where you possess defeated enemies and steal their abilities for yourself to use in your quest to become the final boss of the dungeon, MidBoss is 75% off and only $3.74 on Steam right now https://store.steampowered.com/app/561740/MidBoss/
I am, however, happy to see so many new people playing MidBoss and talking about how much they enjoy it thanks to the itch bundle đź’ś
