You blew it @NAIA. Baseball had it figured out. We were sending the best teams to the World Series. Not anymore. Now we have some watered down regionals & some loaded. For some it’ll be better to finish lower in conference tourneys/standings & get an at large to a weak regional.
Several excellent host sites from previous years will have very little chance to host again. The former host sites that have bad fields & serve hotdogs at the banquet are back in the mix to host.
Some of these new regionals potentially will host 3 or 4 programs that have traditionally been 1 or 2 seeds in opening rounds. This regional plan is almost as bad as the auto-bid for LC State.
Stop saying we are about student experience. This is wrong. If you’re an NAIA coach that thinks this is a good idea, let’s hear it? According to the call many coaches at the convention asked for this. Guess I missed this in the meetings. What’s positive about this? I’ll listen.
Just don’t tell me it’s all to save $20,000 like was said in the call. Just charge the 45 teams in the tournament a $450 entry fee. Problem fixed.
We had an opportunity to pass D2 with their bad regional system & reduction in games. Hope we haven’t missed our chance. This move sets us back 10-12 years to a system worse than the old regionals. Someone change my mind. @NAIABall
