The skills of a great product leader are different than the skills you've worked so hard to develop as a great PM.

In our latest Reforge post, @onecaseman and I dig in on the new skills you need to build to cross the Product Leader Canyon.

Transition 1: You got here by being an expert. You now need to build breadth across the different kinds of product work like building features, expanding product / market fit, driving growth, and effective scaling.
Transition 2: You got here by being great at your job, by solving every detail, and by being a relentless executor. For the next phase, it's important that you train others to be great and leave room for your team to shine.
Transition 3: As a PM, it's your job to build the best possible outcomes with the resources you've been given. Now it's your job to allocate resources effectively and lead by influence to get the job done.
Transition 4: The sign of career growth early on is expansion of scope for yourself. Bigger features with more visibility. As a GPM, success is only possible if you can create scope for the whole organization, often by reducing your own scope.
