Concerining Peter and Tony’s relationship;

Throughout their time together, Tony Stark only ever held Peter back. In Homecoming, he often scolds Peter and doesnt get why he’s so desperate to fight the Vulture, as Tony doesnt understand Peter’s innate sense of responsibility. 1/?
Peter doesnt vie for Tony’s approval, he outright lies to and avoids him at every turn. Stark is the antagonist. He calls the FBI to deal with Vulture due to his lack in faith in Peter, then punishes Peter for ruining the sting. Its only by the end Tony realises his mistake. 2/?
From then on, Tony realises Peter’s ability as a hero, and that they dont all need fancy gadgets and huge headquarters. He also has a newfound respect for Peter. But in Infinity War, he tries to prevent Peter from going to space. Not out of a lack of faith, but out of care. 3/?
Its not Peter who sees Tony as a father, but Tony who sees Peter as a son. Or rather, symbolic of his desire to have a kid of his own. So when he dies, and Tony couldnt stop it, he knows he never showed Peter how much he meant to him and has a child who he can give that love 4/?
When Peter comes back, Tony instantly hugs him. After his time with his own father, Tony knows he shouldnt push away those he loves but hold them while he still can.

Their relationship was never for Peter “replacing uncle ben”. It was about Tony discovering he wants a child. 5/5
