This whole thread is good, but this stood out.
Men of my generation were socialized to see sex as a thing Men were trying to get from Women who were playing keep-away.
But sex is just a shared part of life, and to live well you have to try, actually try, to not hurt other people. https://twitter.com/illusClaire/status/1272929386497540099
I had the realization that I Was The Problem at age 21 after I hurt a friend--that I could (did!) see women as objects without my trying to. That I would have to LEARN not to. And I continue, 13 years into marriage, to find new, unexamined shit inside me that needs fixing.
Anyway if you are a man, you have been taught, at many times, in many ways, to see women as objects of exploitation and if you're like me you will have to actively root that shit out of you.
And we should help each other (the men) see and move past all those behaviors.
Also this is a great thread on why/how you have to make predatory male behavior unsafe if you want safety for women and girls. https://twitter.com/cheryllynneaton/status/1272956596973436928?s=20
