Texas getting a lot of attention right now with #Covid_19

Out of curiosity, I wondered how Texas' data compares to Colorado

Keep in mind, Texas has 5X the population of Colorado

Let's start with hospitalizations.

Here is Texas chart...

(TX data charts are pretty slick)
In Texas there are 2518 COVID+ patients.

If same rate in Colorado... we'd have 504 patients today...

But we don't... As of today we have 161...

(and look at the Colorado curve compared to Texas curve)
Now let's look at POSITIVITY

In Texas, as of today, 6.71%

(and look at the trend since 5/18)
Now let's look at Colorado...

(here's a data set where population difference doesn't matter since it's %)

As of yesterday, our 3 day average was 2.31%
(Look at red line)

(look at the trend since 5/18)
What about daily reported cases...

Let's start with Texas

2622 new cases as of today...

In Colorado terms, that would amount to 524 new cases
But as of last count, we had 125 new cases

(using reported dates for both TX and CO)
Moral to the story?

You don't want to be where Texas is trending right now.

You'd much rather be where Colorado is trending...

Does it mean TX is doomed? Of course not. Texas still has plenty of capacity (as of today 15K hospital beds and 1,675 ICU beds)

But...
some states are starting to trend in the wrong direction.

As much as some people might want to believe, this is NOT FAKE NEWS.

It's reality folks.

Will Colorado's good news continue? I sure hope so. But this virus isn't done. Want proof?

Look at Texas.
As always...

stay safe...

don't be a jerk... (masks in closed public spaces don't take away your freedoms)...

and watch the trends...
