The PM said:
- downloading the COVIDSafe app is like wearing sunscreen outside
- it's the "ticket" to easing restrictions.
BUT Government's own testing indicated that at launch the app only worked on locked iPhones about a quarter of the time or less. https://www.abc.net.au/news/science/2020-06-17/covidsafe-contact-tracing-app-test-documents-rated-poor-iphone/12359250

And thank you to @Senator_Patrick for holding the Govt to account by asking questions about the app in the Senate: https://twitter.com/joshgnosis/status/1273003354361229313?s=19
Not only did DTA mislead the public about the COVIDSafe app, there were many in the media, big corporates, lawyers & MVPs who all cheerleaded for the app on or shortly after launch.

We had journalists proclaiming that when it comes to downloading the app "only Twitter cranks and contrarians publicly demurred": https://twitter.com/michaelkoziol/status/1254915288677507072?s=19 https://twitter.com/MsLods/status/1254955046573244416?s=20
(And don't get me started on the mansplaining from the MVPs that loudly gave the app the

But as a lapsed lawyer, I'll highlight that 48 lawyers signed an open letter endorsing the COVIDSafe app a week after launch: @LawyersWeekly https://www.google.com/amp/s/www.lawyersweekly.com.au/biglaw/28209-48-lawyers-sign-open-letter-endorsing-covidsafe-app/amp

And because time has no meaning any more ...
I nearly forgot this recent example of a journalist choosing to note that a person who tested positive at a #BlackLivesMatterAUS rally had not downloaded the app. https://twitter.com/MsLods/status/1271247559927885824?s=19

You could also assist the work of manual contact tracing teams by keeping your own records of where you go & who you meet.

And I'll also again thank @arielbogle @joshgnosis @denhamsadler @iTnews_au @zdnetaustralia @BernardKeane for their excellent and persistent reporting on the COVIDSafe app.
It is appreciated.
