This has gone viral but can someone point me to what on earth is this growing evidence? And why is yet another "simulation" study being reported like this (remember the joggers and their viruses?) This stuff leads panicked authorities to overreact! https://www.nytimes.com/2020/06/16/health/coronavirus-toilets-flushing.html https://twitter.com/nytimes/status/1272942042717569024
Panicky authorities around the world are closing down parks because they don't want to keep toilets open. Yes, please close the lid and wash your hands. But simulation on a computer is not "growing" evidence of actual transmission—if anything, lack of actual cases is striking!
I remember an earlier NYT article about aerosols which was super panicky and got people worried. In that case, the author neglected to mention the aerosols in the study were mechanically generated in a lab by the researchers to.. study aerosols. Let's panic after actual evidence?
And here's a good thread on the misplaced toilet panic. https://twitter.com/SaskiaPopescu/status/1273014716583997440
