Iraqi Judiciary will re-open the investigation in the charges against Rafi’ al-Isawi, #Iraq’s former Minister of Finance.
Appearantly, he turned himself in. He has been wanted for charges related to terrorism & financial corruption. He fled & was sentenced in absentia. (1)

Make no mistake about it, this is not a re-investigation. It’s a political deal to expunge the record & re-introduce al-Isawi to Iraqi politics. Many high-profile poplitcians, like him, were politically re-baptized just like that. No accountability or respect to rule of law. (2)
Every time one of these types is caught & released, #Iraq's Judiciary faces this legitimate logical question: was it judicial corruption when he was convicted & sentenced, or is it corruption when he is cleared from all charges? Just too many times for the benefit of doubt! (3)
In the following tweets, I will present a few examples of those who were allowed another chance to stick their hands in #Iraq's cookie jar. (4)
Exhibit 1: Former MP Mohammed al-Daini. He was tried for many charges, including bombing Parliament cafeteria. Fled from #Iraq & returned 7 years later & turned himself in in a deal, to be released by a "special pardon" from President Fuad Masoum.
