/12 The long awaited thread on "What #Chamisa Could have done after losing the 2018 Elections" is here. I shall not dwell on why his current brand of politics won't work as its contained in my previous thread.
@matigary @VusiNyamazana @TinoChinyoka @Mavhure @vargoe21 @AAChokwadi
/12 After #Tsvangirai's loss in 2013, there was a fundamental shift in #MDC ideology. The first was on Sanctions. When #Tsvangirai was PM he saw what Sanctions were doing to the ordinary person and decided that he and #MDC would ask for their unconditional removal.
/12 #Chamisa however still thinks Sanctions and being Western sponsored is the way to go. This is the first thing I will say he should have changed after the 2018 elections. He should have called for them to be lifted unconditionally!
/12 The second thing #Chamisa should have learnt from #Tsvangirai was to accept defeat when one doesn't have the V11's to prove otherwise. After #Tsvangirai's 2013 defeat he conceded, this was not a sign of weakness but a wise decision.
/12 If #Chamisa had accepted defeat, not coz he was defeated, but coz he didn't have V11's then he would have had five years of peacefully implementing a REAL election plan. I am 100% sure that he would have been roaming freely in the rural areas selling the #MDC SMART manifesto
/12 The third thing is movement away from the politics where he is the center of #MDC politics to where #MDC becomes a movement that deploys leaders.
/12 #Chamisa has always thought and thinks politics is about him going into Statehouse and nothing more. If he doesn't go into Statehouse then the earth must be scorched. Everything else MUST stop till he is in.
/12 The problem when there is a party that is dependent on its leader as opposed to one that deploys leaders is that if the brand of that leader is no longer appealing the party goes down with him/her BUT if your party can recall then they will just recall and replace the leader
/12 The fourth is #Chamisa should have accepted the leader of opposition parliamentary role. This would have given him Unfettered access to a microphone to preach SMART politics ideology both in parliament and to the whole of #Zimbabwe.
/12 Parliament would have become a battle of ideas, accountability, reforms, etc in short it would have worked to improve the life of #Zimbabweans like a real parliament. The executive arm of government would have been more accountable to parliament thereby to the people!
/12 Corruption culprits would be answering to parliament as we speak. The current deployment of soldiers, budgets, etc would also have been challenged more vociferously in parliament. The voices of the people would have been loud in parliament.
/12 BUT alas the current politics is about "abductions", "human rights", looting, etc. This is why some part of #MDC is tired of jecha (sand) politics and wants a different type of contestation which #Tsvangirai was warming up to before his demise.
