Watching the Aristocats, a film I have a distant memory of watching but no memories of the content. Kinda siding with the butler who wants to off the moggies tbh.
Though his plan has a number of holes in it - not least presumably he could live the life of Riley in loco parentis - why didn’t my man Edgar just put a deadlier poison in the soup?
The cats in this film are jerks. “What a horrible human,” says Duchess, after the cats steal a lift in the guy’s car and steal his food.
What’s the legal status of cats in this film? They can inherit property, and Edgar envisages a serious enough investigation into their disappearance to return to the scene of the crime to dispose of evidence. Yet they act as thieves and squatters with impunity.
Surprised the Chinese stereotype cat has survived to the DVD release.
“Everybody Wants To Be A Cat” remains a tune.
O’Malley goes from one scene saying “those kids need a dad” to the next scene saying his goodbyes after it’s implied he had his way with Duchess, in a fairly accurate depiction of the bad men who hang around single mums.
