I don't know who needs to hear this, but Dominos pizza is utter, utter garbage.
Also? There's something so darkly hilarious about RW culture warriors like Kayleigh trying to hold Dominos up as some sort of salt-of-the-earth indicator of Real Americanness. These giant corporations have utterly homogenized the life of rural & suburban Americans ...
... & they have responded with Stockholm Syndrome. Like, "we don't need no fancy coastal kale, we heartland Americans have Olive Garden!" Like there's some sort of deep cultural traditions embedded in shitty, over-salted, over-processed food. As though Olive Garden executives...
... would so much as stop to pee in these small towns that have been utterly sapped of idiosyncrasy & cultural regionalism & rendered one big bland swathe of highways & chain stores. This embracing of strip mall suburban culture as "authentic" is completely wild to me.
Two more quick things & I'll drop this. One, I am not a pizza snob! I like all sorts of frozen pizzas. I used to *worship* those Stouffer's french-bread pizzas (remember those?). I can even live w/ Papa Johns. But Pizza Hut & Dominos are both just straight-up bad.
Second, the best homemade, organic, small-batch, gluten-free, etc. food I've ever eaten in my life is a giant fresh tomato grown on my grandad's farm in Georgia, sliced, with salt & pepper. Rural America used to be a hotbed of "artisanal" food products & regional variation!
That fact that RW culture warriors now celebrate bland homogenous corporate blech as "authentic" heartland culture is relatively new, and it's horrific.
