I like leading technical people. I know a lot of folks in our industry think of management as the death knell of a technical career, but it can also be a new and engaging set of challenges. (1/n)
I was a pentester before I was a manager, and before that I was a developer. The transitions between those roles marked new challenges, and I needed that in those moments. I need to be challenged. I will never be content with the status quo. (2/n)
I don’t think I’m alone in that point, but I also don’t think everyone is wired that way. To me, doing the same thing over and over and expecting a different result just isn’t acceptable. (3/n)
I guess all this is to say, what drives you? What makes you keep going? Find that thing and chase it. Accept that you might be surprised in the result. Above all, seek balance between your needs, what you are good at, and what the world needs. (4/n)
